"Autumn Repose"

While out doing some autumn exploration around McCloud California, my wife and I came to this beautiful spot on Hawkins Creek a couple miles below the McCloud dam in northern Shasta County. This beautiful little stream runs near the iconic Pacific Crest Trail for several miles before its confluence with the McCloud River just a short distance downstream from where I captured this image. It was mid day but the overcast conditions eliminated the harsh light and shadows that would exist if the sun was shining, nicely softening the scene for a photograph and making for a wonderful place to just relax.
