The National Wild Turkey Federation 2023 Photography Contest

Official Rules and Prizes 

ELIGIBILITY:
The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) Photo Contest (“Contest”) is open for all professional and amateur photographers who are over 18 years of age and who are residents of the U.S. 

Entry must be the original work of the entrant, and the entrant must be the sole owner of the copyright of such entry. The NWTF reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry that does not fit categories or is deemed inappropriate. 

Employees of the NWTF and their immediate family members are not eligible to win. The NWTF reserves the right to verify all eligibility requirements. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Your digital submission must be no less than 3,500 pixels along the long edge (72 dpi). Grand, first, second and third place winners will be requested to provide the original, unedited RAW or JPEG image. Photographs with watermarks, writing or symbols of any kind will be rejected. 

CONTEST PERIOD:
The Contest will begin on Oct 1, 2023 and end on Jan. 10, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET (the “Contest Period”).

WHAT TO ENTER:
Enter your photograph(s) for any of the following categories:

  • Live, Wild Turkey: All entries to the category should have live wild turkeys as the main focus. Game camera images or photos of dead turkeys will not be accepted.
  • Live Wildlife: Any wildlife (game and non-game species) is eligible to be entered into this category, except wild turkey which has its own category. Game camera images or photos of dead wildlife will not be accepted.
  • Scenic Wild Landscapes: This category will accept images of scenic landscape photography that showcases the woods, waters, mountains and prairies traveled while chasing adventures in the outdoors. Landscape photography with people and/wildlife as the main point of focus will not be accepted.
  • Hunting/Outdoor Lifestyle: These images should showcase the soul of the American hunter. Images with dead animals will be accepted, but discretion will be up the the NWTF.

HOW TO ENTER:
There is no fee to enter and no limit to the number of entries you can submit. Upload your photos (up to 50MB each) by clicking on the “contest” tab in the menu and selecting the “click here to upload your photos and enter” and enter all requested information. You must confirm that you have read and agree to the official Contest rules and that you are over the age of 18.

WINNER NOTIFICATION:
Potential winners will be notified by telephone, mail and/or email in January, and will 

be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and, unless prohibited, a Publicity Release, a W-9 Form, and any additional documents that may be required by the prize winner within fourteen (14) days of the date of issuance. If any potential winner is an eligible minor in his or her jurisdiction of residence, prize may, at the Sponsors’ discretion, be awarded in the name of the parent or legal guardian, and such parent or legal guardian will be required to fulfill all requirements imposed on winners set forth herein. Noncompliance with this time period or with the official rules, or the return of any prize notification as undeliverable, may result in disqualification and, at the NWTF’s discretion, the prize will be awarded to an applicable runner-up.

JUDGING:
 Judging for grand, first, second and third place winners will be performed by the NWTF communications department.

PRIZES: 

  • Grand Prize (All Categories): US $1,000 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery.
  • First Place Prize - Live Wild Turkey: US $750 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery.
  • Second Place Prize - Live Wild Turkey: US $500 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery.
  • Third Place Prize - Live Wild Turkey: US $250 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery. 
  • First Place Prize - Live Wildlife: US $750 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery.
  • Second Place Prize - Live Wildlife: US $500 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery.
  • Third Place Prize - Live Wildlife: US $250 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery. 
  • First Place Prize - Scenic Wild Landscapes: US $750 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery.
  • Second Place Prize - Scenic Wild Landscapes: US $500 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery.
  • Third Place Prize - Scenic Wild Landscapes: US $250 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery. 
  • First Place Prize - Hunting/Outdoor Lifestyle: US $750 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery.
  • Second Place Prize - Hunting/Outdoor Lifestyle: US $500 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery.
  • Third Place Prize - Hunting/Outdoor Lifestyle: US $250 cash prize; publication in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call Magazine; publication in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery.
  • Runner-up prizes: Certain images may be chosen as a runner-up and may be published in a special multi-spread feature in an issue of Turkey Call magazine; or published in the NWTF’s online winners’ gallery. 

All prize details are at the sole discretion of the NWTF. No substitution, cash equivalent, or transfer of prizes permitted by winners. The NWTF reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) of comparable or greater value, in its sole discretion. All federal, state and local taxes, as well as any costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use, not specified herein as being awarded, are the sole responsibility of each winner. Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either expressed or implied by the NWTF.

USE OF ENTRY:
Photographers retain copyright on any photo they submit to the Contest. The entrant grants the NWTF and its designees an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to publication rights of entered images in its magazines (including covers), calendar and electronic media as well as for possible use in future promotional material of the Contest, including other types of publications and advertising material without further compensation, notification or permission, unless prohibited by law. All photos will be credited to the photographer.

USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION:
Your personal information collected in connection with this Contest may be used without limitation, for marketing and promotional purposes for future contests and freelance photography needs.
