"June-U-Ary"
By: Micheal Lee (Janesville, CA)
This image captures a moody scene on Antelope Lake in Plumas County, California. In this neck of the woods it is very common to get a cold snap just after Memorial Day. This period has come to be known by many as “Junuary” and it can make our lakes look very moody indeed. By that time of year, the water has warmed significantly, making for some rather dramatic fog on the water in the early morning hour as the freezing air hits the warmer water. I took this shot at 5AM as the 2021 “Junuary” cold front was just starting to move out. I liked the layers formed in the fog by the various points jutting out into the fog in this scene and by using a 300mm focal length I was able to compress the whole scene together.
