" No-snow Snowy Owl"
By: Steve Petersen (Sioux Falls, SD)
Every few years it seems, we will get a winter where we have a few snowy owls show up in South Dakota. It’s been the theory that at times it may be more difficult finding food up north, so they move south where finding food may be a little easier. A mild winter like the year of this picture with no snow, definitely must make it easier for them to find food.
