"Climbing Gray Fox"

By: Robert Haase (Eldorado, WI)

It took me 10 years to capture this image. There were two dens of gray fox and i spent hours trying to capture one of them climbing a tree. They don't do it very often, and the only time I had seen this I did not have a camera. They sometimes climb a tree to get away from danger, or to cache food. Gray fox have retractable claws that allow them to climb a tree much like a cat.
